Agramonte, a famous cattle rancher who fought the
Spaniards in the First War of Independence. Besides his statue and his birthplace
(Casa Natal) you can visit one of the best "Plaza's de la

This
monument was erected in 1940 to commemorate the constituent assembly of
April 1869, which approved the first Cuban constitution. The same
assembly elected Carlos de Cespedes as president. Around the base of the
monument are bronze plaques bearing the likenesses of Jose Marti, Maximo
Gomez, Carlos Manuel de Cespedes, Ignacio Agramonte, Calixto Garcia and
Antonio Maceo, the forefathers of Cuban Independence |
