Camaguey
|
| |
|
| Camaguey
is the city of Ignacio Agramonte, a famous cattle rancher who fought the
Spaniards in the First War of Independence. Besides his statue and his birthplace
(Casa Natal) you can visit one of the best "Plaza's de la
Revolucion" in Cuba. |

The birthplace of the cattle
rancher Ignacio Agramonte, who led the revolt against Spain in this area
in 1868. In July rebel forces under Agramonte bombarded Camaguey. Four
years later he was killed in action against the Spanish. In the
picture the house on the left side is the birthplace of Ignacio
Agramonte. The building on the right with the beautiful Che sculpture is
just the post office. |

This
picture is not typical for Camaguey-hotels, but it's typical for all
state-owned hotels in Cuba. In these hotels you can always find a
wall with a lot (mostly the same) photo's with some impressive moments
of the Cuban Revolution. |
