The actors and actresses from the Korean People's Army
April 25 Film Studio have created the comedy "A Letter
".
It deals with the heroic deeds performed by the People's
Army soldiers in the agricultural activity, true to the Party's call.
The soldiers and cooperative farmers write a letter of loyalty to the
respected supreme commander General Kim Jong Il after they yielded a
rich harvest.
The comedy shows the revolutionary spirit of soldiers
and their self-sacrificing devotion to the people. They repair a water
pump and bring dozens of hectares of swamp on the seashore into active
agricultural use while finishing rice-transplanting in time.
The comedy also reveals philosophically that the idea of
unity between the army and people who uphold General Kim Jong Il with
one mind and purpose is invincible.
When the water reservoir dries up following long spell
of drought, the worst in 60 years, the soldiers decide to pump up the
water from a dead mine pit. Learning that the soldiers are determined to
go into the dangerous pit on a holiday, all the farmers turn out to help
them. Thanks to concerted action of soldiers and farmers, water is
pumped up from the abandoned pit and the drought is overcome.
The scene showing a combat-typhoon campaign is also
impressive. The soldiers evacuate the farmers from their village in
anticipation of the possible destruction of the breakwater, while
combating the storm even risking their lives. Inspired by their
self-sacrificing spirit, farmers join in the combat-typhoon campaign.
Thus, the soldiers and farmers form a human wall to overcome the raging
wave, holding high the flag of the supreme commander. The scene shows
vividly faith and will of the soldiers and people who remain loyal to
the idea and leadership of general Kim Jong Il, rallied firmly with one
mind and purpose.
The comedy, combined with comic and emotion-charged
scenes, has received considerable admiration from the public. It was on
at Mansudae Art Theatre in the capital, the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre
and other theatres in the provinces.
