The Turubong Revolutionary Site in Onsong is a historical place where on
October 1, 1930, the great leader President Kim II Sung set foot after
crossing the border into the homeland and formed the basic organization
of the Party for the first time in the homeland. There he laid down the
tasks and ways of struggle for the Party organization. A large monument
has been erected on this revolutionary site. It consists of a tower of
trimmed granite, a large mural painting which depicts the Preside
conferring a red flag upon the first Party organization and other
monuments. In the compound there are five buildings, including the
Wolmyong School and the Chinmyong School, which the President used in
those days and other monuments and relics. They have been restored to
their original shapes.

The Wangjaesan Grand Monument stands on Mt. Wangjae where on March 11,
1933, the great leader President Kim II Sung held a meeting of chiefs of
underground revolutionary organizations and political workers in the
Onsong area. There he set the policy of developing the anti-Japanese
armed struggle in the homeland. The grand monument consists of a statue
of the President, a torch tower, reliefs, sculptures, the Wangjaesan
Revolutionary Museum, a monument and a secret camp. The monument is
dedicated to the revolutionary exploits of President Kim II Sung who, in
the first half of the 1930s, set out the Juche-oriented line of the
Korean revolution, developed the anti-Japanese armed struggle into the
homeland and brought about a great advance in the Korean revolution. The
statue of the President describes his leadership of the people in the
resolute battle to wipe out Japanese imperialism. The torch tower stands
66 metres high and the group describing the profound admiration of the
soldiers of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army (KPRA) and the people
for President Kim II Sung and the group and relief depicting the battle
of the KPRA soldiers and the people against the Japanese imperialists
stand in the site which stretches for 170 metres. The sculptural groups
Assistance and Armed Struggle, each being 5 m high and 45 m long,
surround the statue of the President and the torch tower. The grand
monument which covers a site area of 60,000 square metres, was built in
one year or so and it was unveiled in October 1975.
