| Diep Minh Chau
|
| Diep Minh Chau was
born in southern province of Ben Tre in 1919. He was a sculptor who turned
first a new page in modern Vietnamese sculpture. He graduated from
the Indochina Fine Arts College, 15th intake from 1940 to 1945
and from the Prague Fine Arts Academy from 1951 to 1955. Materials for his
works are stone, bronze and plaster. He has works in the
Fine Arts Museum of Vietnam. He was the first prize winner at the National
Fine Arts Exhibitions in 1958 and 1980. He worked as a
lecturer at the Fine Arts College of Vietnam and was a member of the
Vietnamese Fine Arts Association form 1963 to 1983 and the general secretary
of the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association from 1978 to 1980. Some of his main
works are 'Young Heroine Vo Thi Sau' (bronze, the Fine Arts Museum of
Vietnam) and 'Uncle Ho' (bronze monument in Ho Chi Minh City). |
