Ho Chi Minh's 113th birthday has
been marked in Russia, Cuba and Britain.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Russia held a
ceremony to lay wreaths in front of Uncle Ho's Statue at Ho Chi Minh
Square in Moscow on May 19 on the occasion of his birthday.
Attending the
function were Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Van Nganh and Chairman of the
Russian Friendship Association with Vietnam E Glazunov.
This is an annual activity of the embassy held
to promote the fine tradition 'when drinking water, remember its source'
among Vietnamese people. The event was also joined by representatives from
Russian Foreign Ministry, Russian Friendship Association with Vietnam,
senior army officials and children.
Teachers and children from primary school 1534
said that they felt very honored to pay respect to President Ho Chi Minh
like this for the first time and the activity helped restore the school's
friendship activities with Vietnam.
An
inauguration ceremony of Ho Chi Minh's statue was held at the Acapulco
park (now called Peace Park), in Cuba's capital, Havana, on the same day.
The bronze
statue was designed by architect Joel Diaz, vice chairman of the
Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association. Addressing the ceremony, member of
the Cuban Party Central Committee and director of the high-level Party
School, Nico Lopez, highlighted the revolutionary life of President Ho Chi
Minh as well as the solidarity and friendship between the two countries.
Meanwhile the Vietnamese Embassy in Britain
held a flower offering in respect of President Ho Chi Minh at the his
Memorial Board outside the embassy of New Zealand in London.
