Hanoi. The 1975 spring victory is a glorious landmark in national history that never fails to inspire the Party, the people and the armed forces in the task of nation-building, Party officials remarked at a commemorative meeting on Monday.

Attending the meeting held in Ha Noi to mark the 27th anniversary of Liberation Day as well as the International Labour Day were Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Van An and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Manh Cam.

Former Party General Secretaries Do Muoi and Le Kha Phieu, Former President Le Duc Anh, General Vo Nguyen Giap, President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front’s Presidium Pham The Duyet, President of the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour Cu Thi Hau, Ha Noi Party Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Mayor Hoang Van Nghien also graced the function.

Many revolutionaries, Heroic Mothers and more than 1,000 delegates from the armed forces, the people, and the city youths also attended the meeting.

Member of the municipal Party Committee and chairman of the Ha Noi Trade Union Nguyen The Phuc said the working class of the country in general and of Ha Noi in particular would spearhead every movement of the revolution.

Under the Party’s leadership, Ha Noi has for many years boasted a higher economic growth than the national average, he noted.

He said the city aims to maintain an annual GDP growth rate of 10 to 11 per cent with industrial production value growing by 14 to 15 per cent, services by 11 to 12 per cent and import and export by 12 to 14 per cent.
